Cable still in limbo
I made a guest appearance (well… my voice did) on ESPN News on Saturday to discuss that network’s report about Al Davis deciding to retain Tom Cable for another season. The only thing the host didn’t ask: Is the report true? Is Cable staying? On that one, I would have preached caution.

Porter wuz robbed
News out of Oakland says that Jerry Porter, the moody wide receiver who played for the Raiders from 2000 to 2007 before falling off the NFL map, had $312,000 worth of jewelry stolen out of his BMW while he was “inside an Oakland salon getting a facial.” Leading to several questions…

Jon Condo, Pro Bowler
The NFL announced yesterday that Jon Condo had been added to the AFC Pro Bowl roster as a “need player.” That spot now generally goes to a long snapper, which has become a highly specialized position in the league, and Condo is one of the best.
