4:05: McFad slips one tackle, almost another — 10 yds

4:05: Grad is Favre-like off his back foot, finds Murphy for 14 yds and first down at midfield. 2:46 on the clock.

4:04: McFadden stiff-arm puts Hall on the ground, but only 2 yards. Big 3rd-and-7 play coming up.

4:02: Oh my lord, this was dumber than McClain’s penalty. Fred Robbins pushes Grad after incomplete throwaway. Instead of 3rd-and-9 it’s first-and-10 Raiders at their 34.

3:58: Touchdown! It’s Oakland 16, St. Louis 14, and now we’ll see if the Raiders can close out a game. By the way, it was Tyvon Branch who got beat on the scoring play, though it’s hard to fault his coverage.

3:57: Rams are challenging call, and replay looks like Clayton got both feet in. But did he have control? If so, it’s a great catch and a touchdown, and three minutes of nervous time for Rolando McClain.

3:56: Nice-looking pass from Bradford to Clayton at flag, but ruled out of bounds.

3:55: 15 yds, Bradford to Amendola, but on next play Jackson drops short pass with Houston bearing down.

3:54: Short completion to Amendola, McClain picks him up and body slams him. Crowd boos, but a ridiculous loss of poise by the rookie.

3:53: With 4 minutes left, Rams get new life. Matt Shaughnessy in neutral zone on first snap.

3:52: Grad’s pass to Louis Murphy tipped by C.J. Ah You and then intercepted by Jerome Murphy. 21-yd return.

3:51: Veldheer false start on 3rd-and-10; now it’s 3rd-and-15 from St. Louis 37

3:50: Nice block by Daniel Loper buys time for Grad, but Miller drops his pass as he goes out of bounds.

3:50: By the way, Heyward-Bey up to 6 catches for 80 yards

3:49: There’s that misdirection toss to McFadden again. This time, 8 yards and a first down.

3:48: Play-action, Grad hits DHB, who spins away from Fletcher but slips before he can get away for huge play. First down, though.

3:46: Punt bounces off Brandon Myers’ foot, Higgins alertly jumps on it. Raiders take command at their 45-yard line with 7:02 left.

3:45: Big 3rd-and-5 play from Rams’ 18… Scott gets into Bradford’s arm to disrupt pass. Strong defensive stand.

3:44: Bradford in 2nd half: 1 of 7 for 4 yds

3:43: On 3rd-and-16, DHB can’t corral a Gradkowski pass that was a little behind him. Punting time with 8:13 left. And new guy Stevie Brown takes out Amendola on the return.

3:42: Grad hits Miller for first down, but Samson Satele called for holding.

3:41: Grad’s pass hits Brandon Myers in facemask, bringing up 3rd-and-6.

3:48: Bradford wants Robinson again, but Routt makes a Nnamdi-like play: runs with receiver, keeps inside position, looks back at last instance and catches it. Textbook. Raiders take over at St. Louis 46-yd line with 9:33 left and crowd can smell a victory.

3:47: Huff comes up to break up pass to Robinson, nearly picks it off — and gets called for pass interference.

3:47: Gradkowski goes down bench, giving a fist bump to each offensive player.

3:35: Huff waits for Gilyard at 23-yard line and plants him on kickoff. Gilyard probably can’t wait to get out of here.

3:33 pm: Janikowski nails a 22-yd field goal to put Oakland up by nine. Stop the Rams without points here, and the Raiders will be firmly in control.

3:31: Quick toss left to McFad nets 6. This has always looked like his best play (second one today for decent yardage).

3:30: First-and-10 from Rams’ 11, McFadden just a yard up the middle.

3:29: Third-and-3 from Rams’ 25. Grad finds Murphy sitting in a seam in middle of field, 14 yds and another first down.

3:26: McFadden up to 111 yards now. This is just his second 100-yd day, the other being 164-yd breakout vs. KC in second NFL game.

3:24: Weird play. Larry Grant bats Grad’s pass, nearly picks it off. In the aftermath, OJ Atogwe called for dubious roughing-passer penalty even as Atogwe comes up limping.

3:23: Only 3 yards for McFadden on last run, but took two nice cuts to get there.

3:23: McFad up to 99 rushing yards.

3:22: McFadden lowers his shoulder into Dahl, gets first down and sends trainers out for Dahl. The guy is really running hard this year.

3:21: Rams LT Rodger Safford has a back injury; his return is questionable.

3:20 pm: What a difference a quarter makes. The Raiders look invigorated behind Bruce Gradkowski. He’s making plays, and the defense has tightened up considerably, especially against the run.

3:15: Raiders are punting on fourth-and-short. I think it’s the right call. Silver and Black has the momentum now; you don’t want to give that up.

3:14: Screen doesn’t work (again), and Grad has to throw it into infield dirt. Third-and-8 from Raiders’ 46: Grad finds Murphy, but he’s a half-yard short.

3:13: Is this really DHB? A catch, a broken tackle, a move, and 33 yds.

3:12: Raiders take over at 11-yd line, with Barnes in as 3rd tackle.

3:11: Suddenly, Jackson isn’t finding those holes. Third-and-9: Scott and Wimbley sandwich Bradford from opposite ends and throws goes off line, incomplete.

3:09: Kelly hit with unnecessary roughness, Rams get first down instead of 3rd-and-9.

3:08: Desmond Bryant leads wave of Raiders who swallow Jackson for 1-yd loss.

3:07: Quentin Groves absolutely destroys Gilyard on kick return, even as he fights off a block. Gilyard woozy, Raiders fans delirious.

3:04: Third-and-goal from St. Louis 4-yd line… rush coming, Grad throws off back foot and hits Murphy for TD in front of Black Hole. The crowd is eating it up.

3:01: One of McFadden’s best plays as a Raider. Two quick jukes near the line and he takes off for 31 yds. First-and-goal at the Rams’ 4, and Raiders hit with delay of game. Ouch.

3:00: McFadden gets around left edge, puts shoulder into Laurinaitis, 9 yds.

2:58: Miller hit hard by Dahl over middle, but holds on for 23-yd gain. Miller shaken up but leaves field under own power. The Grad Magic! Can you feel it?

2:57: Play-action, Grad rolls right and finds DHB for 16 and first down.

2:55: Raiders’ ball. Fans aren’t booing, they’re saying “Bruuuuce.” Or “For God’s sake, don’t looooose to these schmoes.”

2:53: Trick play, handoff to Jackson, pitch back to Bradford and deep throw to Clayton… but something wrong w/ Bradford’s throw. It’s 15 yds short. Good coverage on 3rd-and-3, Trevor Scott tips pass and Rams are punting.

2:52: Tommy Kelly offside, negates Stanford Routt’s good coverage on incomplete pass to Robinson. Kelly makes up for it next play and stuffs Jackson.

2:49: Gilyard fields grounder at 11-yd line, takes it out to 36.

2:47: Timing pass to DHB on third down, Fletcher knocks it away. Seabass from 41 yds, it’s good. Rams 7, Raiders 6.

2:44: Gradkowski strike to Murphy on skinny post, 26 yds. Very nice.

2:43: Murphy lures CB Ron Bartell into personal foul after play. Could be candidate for Golden Globe award.

2:42: Grad finds DHB again, for first down. Three catches is career high.

2:42: That’s DHB’s 2nd catch of the day, equaling his career high!

2:41: Look who’s in at QB for Raiders… Bruce Gradkowski. His first pass is complete to Heyward-Bey.

2:21: Mario Henderson back in at LT. McFadden can’t get out of traffic on screen pass, Campbell throws it into grass. Next play, Campbell drops it when a Ram bumps him from behind; QB picks it up and flees for 2 yards. Here come more boos.

2:20: Draw to Kenneth Darby, LB Thomas Howard makes first contact. Three-yard loss, and JL Higgins back to receive punt. He goes nowhere.

2:17: Bradford just beats Lamarr Houston’s rush. Short completion makes it 3rd-and-16 as Nnamdi is shaken up. He jogs off and is replaced by (gulp) Jeremy Ware.

2:15: Great catch on slant by Laurent Robinson (vs. Nnamdi), but Amendola’s offensive PI wipes it out.

2:14: 3rd-and-4 resumed, with Raiders in nickel — Chris Johnson as fifth DB, McClain and Thomas Howard the LBs. Bradford to Amendola beats Routt for FD, and Nnamdi gives his younger teammate a lecture.

2:06: James Hall runs around Veldheer to knock ball out of Campbell’s hands. Veldheer falls on fumble, and Janikowski followed with 38-yd field goal. Rams 7, Raiders 3.

2:04: Campbell misses Murphy over the middle, but Rams S Craig Dahl flagged for hitting defenseless receiver. First-and-10 Raiders at Rams’ 11.

2:01: Punt bounces back toward Rams AND illegal chop block. Great opportunity for Raiders as they set up at St. Louis 29-yard line.

2:00: Third-and-7, Bradford wants Danny Amendola, good coverage by Routt, the QB throws it away.

1:40: Play-action, Clayton wide open behind Branch, Bradford finds him for TD. Scattered boos as Rams go up 6-0; XP makes it 7-0 Rams. Oh, boy. The Raiders couldn’t actually lose to this team, could they?

1:39: Bradford beats rush again — he’s doing a better job now — and finds Jackson, who shakes Rolando McClain’t tackle and gains 24.

1:38: Bradford barely gets flare pass away. Carney has to stretch for it and falls to turf.

1:36: Rams first-and-10 at Raiders’ 36-yard line

1:34: Jay Alford gets some playing time at NT. Promptly runs into the center, 5-yd penalty.

1:32: Now Seabass misses wide left from 46 yards, kicking from right around where A’s second baseman Mark Ellis is usually stationed.

1:31: Rams CB Bradley Fletcher will never have an easier interception opportunity. But he dropped Jason Campbell’s throw over the middle.

1:30: Tale of two receivers… Heyward-Bey loses one down left sideline (he may have been interfered with), then Murphy barely gets feet in for 27 yards at right sideline.

1:27: Misleading stats… Bradford 3 of 3 for 66 yards, a 118.8 rating. Only one of the three completions was at all impressive, and he’s holding the ball too long.

1:26: Josh Brown from 36 yards — wide right. Not exactly Ali vs. Frazier out here today.

1:24: Third-and-goal from 5 after two short running plays. Bradford holds too long and Lamarr Houston dumps him back at 18-yard line.
